Jesus told us, “Take heart.” (John 16:22) In other words, “Cheer up!” In this world? Really? Really. Jesus proclaimed that even though our lives would be full of tribulation, we would be able to rise above it because he gave us the resource to handle it all—his Spirit. And with his Spirit we are able to live victorious lives even in this world. But it takes effort. And that’s why Peter reminds us to “make every effort to supplement [our] faith.” (2 Peter 3:5) What exactly are we adding to our faith? The qualities that Jesus possessed. And here’s a promise for those who make the effort— “if you practice these qualities, you will never fall.” (2 Peter 3:10) So, there really is a reason to “take heart!”
Take Heart will encourage and challenge believers to grow in their faith. Each writing plunges deep into scripture while offering life application to a confused and hurting world. The collection of ideas ranges from how we sometimes speak to God with “irreverent babble” to understanding that often God speaks to us through that feeling deep in our gut.
