After her parents died, Esther was raised by her cousin Mordecai. After Queen Vashti was expelled from her position, Esther became the next queen to King Xerxes. Things just “happened” to her. And then one day, Esther was asked to do something quite out of her comfort zone – save the Jews! Even though she felt inadequate for the task, and she was tempted to remain silent, she risked everything, and God used her to save his chosen people.
The fact is – God sometimes chooses us to do things that we feel quite inept at doing. We might respond with fear and doubt. But if God has called us, her will also equip us to be successful! Esther’s story includes lessons about respect, standing your ground, having a mentor, doing the right thing, trusting the invisible hand of God, discovering your purpose, and most importantly, being sensitive to the ‘nudging’ of God.
